"The Weight of the World"

This message is called “The Weight of the World.” As we jump into Luke 10:1-24, Jesus speaks to His disciples about the mission of the “cruciform” life. Following Jesus and taking up our cross sounds weighty and burdensome. However, thank the Lord, while it is costly, it is His mission before it is ours. The cost of following Jesus doesn’t include carrying the weight of the world upon our shoulders. It can feel like that. Especially when the rejection and opposition to the faith comes from those near and dear to us, we can feel burdened, anxious, or overwhelmed. Jesus reminds us in this section of Scripture that we don’t need to bear the weight of the mission or the weight of the world on our shoulders, because He has already taken it upon Himself. Come and see why Jesus’ yoke is easy and His burden is light. Come and see how you can be on mission for Christ without being continually anxious or exhausted. Come and lay your burdens down and find fresh grace in the gospel.
