The Need for Shrewd Disciples

Our message from Luke 16:1-13, is entitled “The Need for Shrewd Disciples”. In a highly unusual parable, Jesus commends an unscrupulous servant as a model for Christian discipleship. How does a dishonest steward model the kind of disciple that Jesus says the kingdom of God needs? What Jesus is commending is certainly not dishonesty. It’s shrewdness. Clear-minded and deliberate disciples make decisive choices about how to live their lives for the kingdom. In a world where we are constantly being pulled to live for so many other “gods”, it takes true wisdom, clarity, and creativity to give ourselves to the mission of Christ. Are you a shrewd disciple? Are you making clear kingdom choices? Come this Sunday, and let us pray that the Holy Spirit might pull us out of the fog that often clouds our judgment and dulls our senses to what God desires for our lives. Let’s pray for a mind and a heart for our King and His kingdom.
