“The God Who Sees"

Our sermon this Sunday was called, "The God who Sees". One of the greatest dangers to our lives is when we try to write our own stories and save our own lives and we end up making life for difficult for a great deal of people. In Genesis 16, Sarai starts a great deal of trouble when she decides that she is going to take matters into her own hands. The good news is that despite the fact that it is Sarai’s time to do a silly walk, God is still good, and gracious and merciful to those who are living in all the brokenness. God reveals himself as the one who hears our cries and sees our lives and ministers to our brokenness and fears. He is the God who sees when we feel like no one else does. He is the God who hears when we feel alone and abandoned. Praise God He is never absent, indifferent, and unengaged with those who call on His name.

The life of Abraham is a fascinating one because, as we will see, Abraham’s journey was not so much a journey to the land of Canaan but actually a journey towards heaven (see Hebrews 11:16). His destination is not so much an earthly one but a spiritual one. It’s a journey of a fatherless and heirless man into the presence and promise of God. It’s a journey into the very heart of God. God takes a broken family and a broken man and shows him that He will make him into a Father of many nations who reflects the very heart of God the Father Himself. This is an invitation to all of you to bring your brokenness and join us in our study of the life of Abraham. May the story of Abraham’s journey from brokenness to blessing become the story of all who find the hope of God by faith as he did.
