"Longing for Peace in the Storms of Life"

I love a good summer storm. I love to sit on the deck of a cabin and watch the dark clouds build and the lightning flash across the waters. Notice, I said, “a cabin” and not “a tent”. Storms are less intimidating if you have a safe place to take shelter. Psalm 29 is a psalm that shows us where we can take shelter and how we can find peace in the storms of life. It is a psalm meant to be placed in our repertoire of Scriptures that we use when we feel like the storms that hit us might swallow us up. It is a good reminder when you hop in the car on the way back from the cabin and you begin to feel anxiety start to build as you return to the “real world.” Our sermon this week is “Longing for Peace in the Storms of Life.” If you are in the midst of difficult storms, may this psalm be a means of God’s grace and mercy to you. If you aren’t in a particularly difficult time, may it become a resource to draw on later or to share with those in your life who need God’s peace. Looking forward to worshiping the Lord with you and being a mutual encouragement to one another!
