Longing for Gospel Unity

We are going to be studying Psalm 133. King David wrote Psalm 133 as he was reflecting on a joyous experience of deep and authentic oneness with God’s people. This psalm celebrates a time of corporate unity when David tasted of the goodness and delight of sharing in worship and community with all of God’s people. Much of David’s life was not characterized by unity. His sin had broken relationships within his own family, with some of his closest friends, and with many who once served alongside him. The backdrop of relational fractures often serves to remind us that we were made for something far better. We long for something deeper. We were made for deep unity and true community with God and with God’s people. Do you remember a sweet moment when you experienced the gift of being one with God and one with others because of the Lord? Do you long for a deeper relationship not only with Christ but with Christ’s people? Our sermon title this week is Longing for Gospel Unity. Let’s pray that God would awaken our hearts to have a passion for the kind of unity and community that Jesus died and rose again to make possible. Let’s pray that we might taste of this goodness even this week!
