CloseContinuing the study of Paul’s letter to the Colossians, the ripples now travel outward from the stone Paul dropped in verses 13-15 of Chapter 2, and begin to lap up against the shores of the Colossian professions and practices; particularly those beliefs foisted on them by the gnostics, which are contrary to the message of the Gospel and the sufficiency of Christ. Paul reminds the church that their hope has nothing to do with anything that they may or may not do in this life aside from surrender to the authority and accept the grace of Christ.
