COME, WEARY SINNERS

My friend Tim Graff says, “If the yoke you are carry feels heavy, it is not Jesus’ yoke.” This Sunday, we studied one of the great texts of the New Testament, Matthew 10:28-30. Our sermon is called “Come, Weary Sinners.” In this passage, Jesus invites us saying “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Unfortunately, religion has the history and the tendency to burden us. We find ourselves striving to find peace with God, but our striving can often lead us to feel wounded, weary, helpless and hopeless. We shoulder the burden rather than shed the burden by trusting Christ. Let’s pray that we truly hear the call of Jesus to find rest by taking on a whole new way of life. The yoke of leaning on, listening to, and learning from Christ, the Great Shepherd of the Sheep. Are you worn and weary? This sermon is for you!
